In her essay examining the intersection of fat activism and technology, Joy Cox reflects on the rise of public concern over weight gain during the pandemic and how social media, brands, and apps spread these fears. She argues that to counter this worry over weight increases, we ought to accept that our bodies change and acknowledge the shortcomings of current weight loss apps that equate thinness with healthiness. Cox explains that apps and other health technologies need to listen to people living in larger bodies to develop more inclusive and holistic health technologies.
