Nik Marda
Nik Marda is a technical lead for AI Governance at Mozilla, where his work supports Mozilla’s mission to build products, make investments, and lead campaigns that make AI safer and better for everyone. His work focuses on how open source AI and public infrastructure can make it easier to build and use AI in the public interest. Previously, he worked at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, where he was the chief of staff of its Technology Division. In that role, he planned and oversaw the launch of multiple federal policy initiatives on AI, privacy, and digital assets. Marda also served as a policy advisor in the National AI Initiative Office, where he worked on strengthening guardrails for the use of AI—especially to protect people’s civil and human rights. Before that, he consulted on tech policy for Data & Society, assisted with AI ethics for the National Security Commission on AI, and helped with tech strategy and delivery for the Biden-Harris Transition Team and the Tech Talent Project.
