Deborah Raji is an advocate and researcher dedicated to addressing bias in artificial intelligence. Her work focuses on the social implications of AI and ensuring ethical practices in AI development. Raji is a fellow at the Mozilla Foundation, where she collaborates on initiatives to improve transparency and accountability in AI systems. She has also worked with the Algorithmic Justice League, contributing to groundbreaking research on facial recognition technologies and their disparate impacts on marginalized communities. Raji’s efforts have been recognized by numerous awards, including MIT Technology Review’s Innovators Under 35 in 2020 and Forbes 30 Under 30 in Enterprise Technology in 2021. She holds a degree in applied mathematics and computer science from the University of Toronto and frequently advises policymakers and organizations on ethical AI practices. Her work has been featured in prominent publications such as the New York Times, the Washington Post, and Wired. At present, she continues to push for regulatory and industry changes to mitigate AI biases and promote fairness and justice in technology.
